Prof. Umesh Chandra Srivastava, Retired Professor of Department of Zoology, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, is an academician par excellence. He was selected by UGC as Emeritus Professor from 2015 -2017. He has served as General Secretary (HQ) of The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI). He has made outstanding research contributions in the field of Neurobiology, Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology. During 36 years of his busy and fruitful research career he has published more than hundred research papers in the journals of International and National repute. The notable research papers published in the Journal of Neurophysiology (USA), Neuroscience (USA), Pflugers arch (Europian Journal of Physiology), Eur. Arch. Biol.(Belgium), Arch Ital. Biol. (Italy), Adv. Oto. Rhino laryng (Switzerland), Cellular and Molecular Biology (France), Cell and Tissue Research (Germany), Indian Nat. Sci. Acad. INSA New Delhi, Proc. Nat. Acad. Sciences India, Nat. Acad. Sci. letters Allahabad are cited many times; and the cumulative citations of his 22 papers are more than 300. His one paper entitled, "Cholinergic mechanism controlling the response gain of forelimb extensor muscles to sinusoidal stimulation of macular labyrinth and neck receptors" has been cited 83 times by the world fame scientists in the Journals of International standard.
